INITIATIVES

 

The employment unit engaged in the following broad outreach initiatives in accordance with various elements of FCC Rule 73.2080(c)(2):

 

Participated in job fairs by station personnel who have substantial responsibility in making hiring decisions.

8/14 – Apex Broadcasting, Hilton Head, SC. Summer Job Fair presented by USCB. On Site

Interviews conducted by Program Director and Station Manager for programming and promo

Techs.

 

Established an internship program designed to assist members of the community to acquire skills needed for broadcast employment.

Solicited for interns with USCB and TCL.

Participated in scholarship programs designed to assist students interested in pursuing a career in broadcasting.

Sponsored at least 2 events in the community designed to inform and educate the public as to employment opportunities in broadcasting.

9/14 – Beaufort Business Expo.  WVSC

and WLHH served as exclusive radio

sponsors of this event for the Beaufort

Chamber of Commerce. They also had

a booth set up to talk to candidates interested

in broadcasting careers.

 

10/14 – Bluffton Business Expo. WVSC

and WLHH served as exclusive radio

sponsors of this event for the Bluffton

Chamber of Commerce.
